SKILL SWAP SERIES (2022)

Skill Swap Series is a free or low-cost monthly workshop schedule that unites people to share skills, stories, materials, and resources. We operate on a model of reciprocity, where everyone has something to gain and something to contribute.

Throughout the series, a person may move fluidly between the roles of presenter and participant. Each session includes a Community Contribution, which is a special request for participants before, during, or after the session. Each workshop engages within one of the following themes:

  • Direct textile skills ~ e.g. specialized techniques in mending, dyeing, knitting, weaving, sewing, felting, pattern making, etc

  • Art-adjacent skills to enhance a creative toolbox ~ e.g. grant writing, artist study, e-commerce, art history lecture, theory discussion, reading group, social media marketing, etc

  • Non-art practices and rituals for creative rejuvenation ~ e.g. garden walk, cooking class, poetry writing workshop, volunteer session, etc
